THE HOTEL LIST
We've got a great list of hotels lined up across the country at discount rates. There may be other, less expensive hotels in some towns, but in balancing price, cleanliness, and a property large enough to accommodate our group, we are very satisfied with the current list. Please also keep in mind that staying in a hotel on our list, adds to your experience, as well as our amount of complimentary rooms, which will be randomly distributed to participants via drawings!
There's a couple of things to keep in mind before you start making these reservations. The group rate policies at most of these hotels are handled by the individual hotels and the national reservation line does not have any information about the group rates. The easiest way I've found is to call the hotel directly and request a "reservation as part of a group". If the hotel has a phone system that includes options for both reservations and front desk, choose front desk. The reservation option will probably take you to the national reservation line. Also, we used the group name Rallye To Reno at all the hotels across the country. Many of the hotels look at a list of groups by date, but if you need to spell it out for them, note the spelling of Rallye.
The other thing that will help is joining the hotel clubs. Not only will you get points that might get you a free room (maybe on the way home?), but the club will have all your information such as name, address, phone number and email address. You can give this number to the person making your reservation and they will not need to ask you as many questions. It doesn't work everywhere, like the Dodge House, the Barrymore Hotel and the Crowne Plaza, but it will help at the rest. (The Crowne Plaza group reservation department doesn't have access to the club info for some reason.)

One final note: a couple of the hotels have a April 15 deadline for our discount rates. Please get your hotel reservations made before these rates go away.

Regarding a hotel for Sunday, June 12: You have options of getting to Reno Sunday and extending your MG2011 hotel reservation a day early, or spending that night in Carson City or South Lake Tahoe. Both of those locations are nice if you're not interested in getting to Reno a day early.
